Generation of Raw 1993
A work that signify Ramlan's personal longing towards his roots. The concept was realized from his childhood observation while assisting his grandfather in stacking firewood. During this 'exercise' his grandfather would always share some advise and stories that invokes his aspiration and imagination. This according to him play crucial role in establishing his self-esteem and confidence.

The 'exercise' of passing one's aspiration to another - a symbolic action where wisdom passed from one generation to another made Ramlan feel obliged to recapture the moment and share it with the public. From another point of view, Ramlan relates on the vitality of today's youth with the wood as the metaphor. From past generation to the present generation, wood is always perceived as something very traditional and stay very close to Malaysian's identity. Wood being raw as it is attempting a daunting journey in becoming valuable and respectable and somehow the sculpture represents that attitude.
