VC 1996
A work of art signifying the importance of regional politics
in ensuring the stability and development of Asia Pacific
economy. The sculpture came into realization after I received
a fax from the National Art Gallery KL. The fax pointing out
the needs of sharing aesthetic and artistic expression for
the APEC summit in Manila. The fax paper then became the major
influence in conceptualizing the body of the sculpture. The
basic idea is simple, sometimes a piece of paper is a foundation
in generating changes into a desired possibility albeit in
the form of legality, cultural or even political.
The paper is a metaphor for a copper plate, which then transformed
into a three-legged structure, a representation of a sound
institution or establishment.
The structure is then complemented by a prism, a crystal clear
prism signifying the translucent and transparent characteristics
of the desired regional economics achievable through the summit.
Therefore VC came into existence where Viable Challenges are
always ahead in making sure the economy as a whole thrive
and triumphed.
